Understanding where your centre of gravity is essential in maintaining proper balance, stability, and control of all your movement throughout the game of hockey. The centre of gravity is an imaginary point in which the body is balanced. Standing straight up and looking forward the centre of gravity lies in the middle of the torso and is approximately 3 cm above the belly button for an adult male and about 1.5cm above the belly button for an adult female. The centre of gravity is around the belly button for a youth.
